I’ve started to become a big fan of E-bay. Sure its full of charlatans and it isn’t the same as it used to be, blah-die-blah. However at the moment I’m trying to furnish my flat (and no, why I don’t have the old furniture isn’t a topic we’re discussing on the ‘blog just yet, thank you), and managed to pick up a decent enough bed plus a good Lattenrost (what is “lattenrost” in English anyhow - you know the slat things on a frame that go under the mattress - whatever) for €1.50. Not a mattress, but thank heavens, I wouldn’t want to have to pay to have it disposed of so I could buy a new one anyway. For €1.50, that’s one pound and six pence. $2. At this rate I’ll have all the furniture I need for say, 25 quid.
Don’t think the seller was too ecstatic though.
