Football Frenzy

TeletubbiesMidnight tonight is the deadline for applying for the first tranche (is that the right word) of tickets for the World Cup finals, taking place in Germany next year. A major sporting event in the city in which I live! Now, I’d really like to go to one of the matches. Preferably an England one. This of course is where the problems start; no one knows which teams are going to qualify, let alone where and when they’ll play, but you have to order your (strictly non-transferable) ticket by well, today.
So I’m going to order two tickets for a match in Stuttgart in 14 months time. For a football match between er, two teams. As far as I can gather your names are printed on the ticket and you need to show matching ID to get in, although I can’t really see that working in practice - everything being checked as 50 odd thousand football fans all try to get in to the stadium at the same time.
Then of course, who are you going to watch? It be a knockout round match between England and Germany, or it could me Malawi vs. Kuwait - One just doesn’t know until next year. I find it amazing that the offer is more than 6 time over-subscribed….
