Well, when I say crossing a boundary, I’m probably referring to the Rhine between France and Germany, the river depicted below.

This picture should be titled “Sitting On A Bridge Over The Rhine From A Train That Hasn’t Moved For An Hour”.Unfortunately, I was so struck with intense interest in my immediate surroundings during the rest of my trip to Straßburg/
Strasbourg that I neglected to actually take any photographs. Hence you’ll have to make do with the pic above, as opposed to say of visiting the
Cathedral, wandering along the banks of the
Ill, the streets of Petite France or even just lying in the shade on a grassy embankment. Suffice to say that after such an enchanting day, I spent the return train journey writing so vigorously in my diary that I was overcome with scrivener’s palsy before I’d managed to finish everything I
needed to get down.

WOW! Nice trip, nice blue sky. You writing in your diary, that would have been a pic
What the hell were you doing in France?
Liseuse: It was indeed a nice trip, thanks. But taking photos of myself and posting them here would sort of spoil the purpose of having a semi-anonymous blog (but yes, I know you have a pic where you can see a bit of your nose in a book, so I’m aware it can be done).
Devonboy: It was just one of those green hat days, and Strasbourg is only just in France, the Germans will reclaim it “next time”.
Enchanting? Intense interest? Lying in the shade? Sounds like there is another party involved in this trip.
Blogfly: I’m not sure about there being a party, but there was a gay rights parade with lots of loud music and people on the back of trucks, dancing.
sounds like you had a great day! i wish northern california was having the weather you had!
You went to Strasbourg to attend a gay rights march? Given up on women eh? They’re difficult to read, so maybe it’s for the best.
Gwen: I did have a great day, and the weather is most agreeable, however, just be glad that you’re in N. California where ice in drinks and air conditioning are not considered extravagant luxuries.
EasyJetsetter: Well, I didn’t go for the gay rights parade, in fact I didn’t even know there would be one, it was just a happy coincidence. A less happy coincidence was picking the one day of the year when work was being carried out on the LGV Est Européen, which is eventually going to cut journey times between Paris and Strasbourg to 1h50, but extended my journey time by an hour..
And as for women being dificult to read, I suppose it depends what language they’re written in. German (say) can be quite direct, but quietly spoken English is much harder to erm, pick up.
