Off To London…

Posted on Tuesday 12 July 2005

…but just for the day. Yes, once more I’m awake at some ungodly hour to catch a flight to Heathrow for, this time, the 3rd round of job interviews (or maybe it’s to discuss terms, they wouldn’t tell me on the phone – one never knows, but they wouldn’t be shelling out ca. €600 for a ticket if I didn’t stand some chance right? And there were only six candidates at the 2nd round, so I must be somewhere near, right? Right?) Anyway, if I get the job it would be most splendid, both professionally and on a personal level.
I will of course have to catch the underground. I hope your prayers will be with me because I am, of course, terrified – every single time I’ve caught the Heathrow Express thus far, I’ve been aurally assaulted by the worst buskers in the entire world and I fear what may await today. Actually, that’s not strictly true, I was once entertained by an amazingly talented stand-up comedian, although he may have been a drunk, homeless guy with Tourette’s – one can never tell.
Oh well, the taxi to take me to the airport will be here in a few minutes, I’d better put some clothes on, because despite what you may think – that the airport security staff would be grateful for my nakedness (no need to worry about belt buckles, zips and the like setting off metal detectors) – past experience has shown that in fact, it just makes them more suspicious. Sheesh! One just can’t win with those people.

Buon viaggio. Even after the event, I’m happier on the Tube than on a flight; the important thing is that you’re letting necessity override your concerns. Come back soon.

Past experience with airport nudity??? I’m still convinced you could make a million writing a book.

    Have a safe trip!

So you’re really hellbent on leaving us, huh? And why would anybody shell out the enormous sum of 600 euros just to see you? Are you certain what particular kind of service they expect from you?

    Viel Erfolg.

I would think that, if anything, the underground would be safer now. Lots of luck on the trip.

I’ll put your blogging naked on my ever growing list of things I really didn’t need to know. Good luck!

Wait, how did I miss the nakedness? (wolf whistles)

I guess that by this point you have a fair idea of the situation; very much hope that it is favourable.

Stairs, Blogfly etc: I got on a tube, the same as millions of other people, anyone who knows me will tell you that it will have come as a welcome relief after the flight (I’m terrified of flying, well the fall to earth before crashing actually), and there was a bloody idiot on the tube with a digeridoo. I think the most pressing concern for the authorities in London should be to clamp down on these people - they’re worse than those awful accordion players that wander around Parisien cafes (and that’s saying something).

EasyJetsetter: Sitting naked at the computer can help relieve tension, I’ve been told.

JCS: Paying money to see me is worth it. No really. Well I hope some people would agree. And hell-bent on leaving? I think I ned to write a post about how much I like it here and how I’m now never going to feel “at home” anywhere I go.

    liseuse, that_girl: Thanks.
