As opposed to Ryan, off poncing about watching an al fresco Midsummer Night’s Dream at Balboa, can anyone think of something better than this for your inner Neanderthal?
The Stella Artois open-air film festival in Greenwich will be showing Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on Sunday 23rd July at 9:30 p.m. and there’ll be lots of food and drink concessions – hopefully with drinks other than that of the main sponsor as well (if not I’ll have to smuggle in an illicit bottle of cider for that real “teenage years” experience) - and food from the splendid Pie Minister “Happy chickens, pigs, cows, sheep - make delicious pies.” Indeed. As the Guardian says;
“It’s a beautiful setting, on a gentle, wooded slope down from the observatory towards the Wren- and Hawksmoor-designed Maritime Museum and the Thames. In the afternoons there is entertainment from DJs (including DJ Yoda and Guilty Pleasures), the National Symphony Orchestra (playing film themes) and ‘the world’s biggest film quiz’.”
But that’s the Guardian for you; I’ll be going for the beer, pies and 80’s classic film. And I was beginning to wonder if London had any real culture.
German Phrase For Today: “Fleischpastete mit Fleich umhüllt” - Food of the Gods
Song playing as this was published: Heather Nova - “I Wanna Be Your Light”
I was about to say “ooh, we could meet”, until I realised that the 23rd is between two closely packed birthdays, so I’ll probably have something on. However, if you should ever happen to be in London and in need of company… assuming I can find time in my hectic social life for you, said he checking blogs on Saturday night.
And unlike certain others, I won’t be aiming for seduction.
While I notice “andreas04: close to attraction” appears to be showing as the title of all your post pages (i.e. the bar across the top of the window on this page).
Wait, are you in London now? I’m so incredibly confused by your hectic schedule.
23rd July is my birthday!!!
And I’d just like to say that I loved these “random photos”
Matthew Broderick rocks
Anyhoo: “Won’t be aiming for seduction?” So you think I’m unnattractive then? (thinks of opening scene with Drill Instructor from the movie “Jarhead”)
As for “andreas04: close to attraction”, well, it’s either a reference to a tale of unrequited love; how I remember his doe-like eyes glistening in the German summer sun 2 years ago, or else, the wordpress theme is based on one by Andreas Viklund and I haven’t changed that part yet…
Sin: Yes, much like anyhoo I *am* a social butterfly with a hectic social life, hard to pin down. I might well be in London this weekend, although I’ve heard talk of there being a football match and going to Wimbledon.
Priscila: Ah, another one. It must be the time of year. Glad you like the photos.
jr: Yes, but Sarah Jessica Parker? What was the man thinking?
Who’s aiming for seduction?
I don’t know; I don’t think I’ve seen you (well, not all of you). Do you need seducing then?
As for Jarhead: yeah, I never quite got round to seeing that. Any good? And what happens in this famous scene?
INOAP: it’s what AF termed a third party’s approach to me (an approach which could be classed as redefining seduction).
If Sarah Jessica ever dumps him, Matthew is MINE.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off! I remember that film. My sister borrowed the DVD from someone a couple years ago & I just caught the end…it was awesome! I’d love to see it again.
