The BNP:
“have exactly the same policies as the Labour Party used to…..AND they hate Pakis.”
Added: Hmm. Maybe I should clarify this a little. It was initially meant just as an example of the kind of language that I hear everyday in this part of the world; that is so commonplace that I no longer turn my head and stare, open-mouthed, let alone confront people about. Unless it’s my father saying it.
Eavesdropping further on the conversation it was clear that the two shoppers wanted to vote Old Labour, but didn’t feel that they had the opportunity any more and had chosen Nationalism with a little bit of Socialism thrown in (or whatever they’re shortening that to nowadays), instead.
Despite what some people in Islington may think, there are still people who describe themselves as working class, and some of them still vote.
I didn’t want to necesarily suggest that some Labour party supporters were any more racist than those of the Conservatives - if it’s disturbing who those Old Labour voters have turned to, just imagine where traditional, Daily Mail-reading Tories would go after nine years of Cameroonacy government.
See “Learning About Modern Britain In Quotes: Waitrose” for comment on Aldi.
IAF, have your extra-wide, Organic margins got dormice, by any chance?
Queen Of Swords: Aldi: They ship in products direct from Germany, often without bothering to even change the packaging. Yes, some of their customers are ‘interesting’, but there’s always the chance of one of those “ooh look! I’ll buy them all!” moments.
Perhaps a little to cold and wet here in general, not just at the moment for dormice. There are two cats though, who’ll give any mice, usually sans a limb or two a lift to the kitchen…..
