kinglear: Didn't get the job is one thing. To not get the job after being invited to interview in London three times, travelling down to London and then having the interview cancelled at the last minute every single time is something else. Oh, and of course, because the interviews didn't take place, I should forget about travel cost refunds. We'll see about that bit at least..... And apparently Heidelberg has much lower living costs, but no 'Dirty Dancing: The Musical'. Ah, decisions, decisions.....

A guy from HR shooed me away from taking photographs from the window at the top of the stairwell on the grounds that I was copying highly confidential information. I pointed out it was an uninspiring stairwell and there was a lock on the nearest door through which I could see a corner of grey corridor, thus hopefully limiting my access to said information. HR bloke tried arguing that the building was not open to the public and that security would "arrest" any member of the public found on college property. I mentioned being based a few floors down. He walked off threatening to call security, then spilt his coffee over the forms he was carrying as his keycard repeatedly failed to work. It may possibly be apt that UCL's motto begins with "Cuncti".

Oh, and those who do manage to get employed by the top-floor muppets loathe them too.
