Per ardua ad astra

Posted on Wednesday 12 March 2008

Blatantly pulled from the boing boing feed, the new USAF motto: “Über alles” - okay, they have a point and the F22 is very, very nice. But there should be a slogan-maker looking for a new job, oder?

Your assumptions that we can read, spell, add, multiply or (this is really reaching here) give a rat’s ass about foreign languages is highly optimistic. But you are correct, the F22 is really cool and English is all you need when you’re flying one of those babies

I thought opposable thumbs was all one needed to pilot them (spot someone who was ground-based and had to carry far too much gear which could have gone in a chopper) and, let’s face it, any nation capable of churning out squadrons of those things, plus B2s and all of the other cool stuff (spot the son of a “space and defence” engineer) doesn’t really need to care about foreign languages too much.
